South Africa the fastest growing clean energy market in 2012

Pew Charitable Trusts: “Who’s Winning the Clean Energy Race: 2012 Edition”

April 2013: According to a new report from The Pew Charitable Trusts and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, clean energy investment in South Africa grew exponentially from US$30 million to US$5.5 billion in 2012 – making it the fastest growing market in the world.

Investment grew in response to South Africa’s clean energy targets and feed-in tariff incentives.   As a result, the country rose from last place to ninth among G-20 members in total annual clean energy investment.
