US to beat Germany as solar world leader in 2013: infographic

NEW YORK: This week GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) released the US Solar Market Insight report for the third financial quarter (Q3), which shows the huge growth the US has experienced in solar energy installations--is forecast to continue.

The US installed 930 megawatts of photovoltaics in Q3 of 2013, which is 20% higher than the quarter before and 35% up on the same quarter for 2012. The growth is the second biggest in the history of America’s solar market and the largest ever for residential installations.

The research shows that 2013 is also expected to be the first time in over 15 years that America will install more solar capacity than Germany, the current world leader.

This Infographic from the report writers highlights key milestones for the US solar market in 2013.
